In this second installment of The Blood War Chronicles the vampires discover a prophecy that could change the world. They have to defend themselves from more than just Red Horse International this time. The rebel vampire organization, The Unyielding Undead Underground has been an enemy to the vampire monarchy for sometime, but now they are interfering with their relations with RHI. On top of that, the werewolves, who also are a long standing enemy to the vampires, have decided to make a play as well.
Lenore finds out more about Ceneric’s past and has to decide if she can accept him for what he was. Just as she is figuring out her relationship she is thrust back into danger because of her involvement with the prophecy. Bianca finds that her blood exchange brings her new uncontrollable powers that lead her to discover the prophecy as well. As Phil is introduced to the new pack and befriends the Alpha to be, Achilles, he finds himself in the middle of the war. The werewolves find they have a part to play in this mysterious prophecy, too.
As relationship problems interfere with supernatural politics and agendas, the plot of Dark Secrets and Prophecies twists and turns in unexpected ways. As new knowledge of secrets of the vampires and werewolves are revealed, new questions arise. Who is the enemy and who is a friend? Can secrets be forgiven? What will this prophecy bring? Can anyone survive the war?
A mysterious prophecy has been received in parts and pieces by different people. Can the vampires and werewolves figure out what it all means and what they need to do before it’s too late? The message seems dire, dark and imperative, but deciphering it will be a tremendous challenge. Who is the vessel? What does the vessel hold? Who needs to unite and will they be able to?
Meanwhile, the vampires must still fend off their enemies and Red Horse International seems to be training hunters at a very early age. Can the vampires figure out how to bring down the private school before it grows out of control? Will they be able to keep RHI at bay while trying to save themselves and possibly the world?
With Lenore back in Ceneric’s arms she needs time to recover from her ordeal. Can she heal from all the psychological and magical wounds? Does Kaschei has anything to do with the prophecy and what kind of effect it may have on her and her vampire family? There is obviously something happening to her, but what? It may take some real magic to find out or the answers may just be too simple to see.
The werewolves have enough problems of their own. Can they forge an alliance? Can Achilles forgive himself for hurting the one person he loves the most? He will try all he can to protect her from the vampires and all the other dangers of the world. However, can he protect her from himself? Along with all his other worries he has to keep their affair a secret. If everyone finds out he may be in real trouble.
It’s hard to tell if everyone can work through their problems and focus on the bigger picture. Will the world come to an end? The prophecy will have to reveal itself, but it may be too late.
